• How did you get started in PR and how did you find yourself where you are now?
I got started in PR while I was in college and heavily involved in extracurricular activities. I was quickly introduced to making nothing into something as well as pitching and obtaining placements for a one of its kind fashion event at my university. I secured my first client while in school and I then birthed my full PR agency in 2011.
I find myself where I am now with a clearer purpose and understanding of what power I have as a Publicist to not only make dreams come true, but to serve as a human voice for a project, serve or brand. I’m here to tell stories; amazing stories. I’ve always had a passion for seeing the best out of others and now in my profession I can help mold and spread the word of how amazing someone or something is in the form of how this item or person can improve your life or craft an experience.
• What does your agency specialize in and what is your role?
The Bee Agency specializing in Full Client Representation, Public Relations Coaching, Public Relations Consulting and Event Public Relations. We hold a firm focus on helping individuals “Bee-Come Their Brand”; this concept and area of expertise is a branch of our educational sector where we host our 1-day University that serves as a hands-on course teaching entrepreneurs, business owners and growing professionals how to perfect their pitch while becoming their brands.
• What are you currently working on?
We’re currently working expanding and working on the foundational basics to our university. Our goal is to take the university to a new city in 2018; this is still pending ;) We are also working a major client campaign at the moment. We’ve been working with this client since the inception of her career and this campaign is rewarding to handle.
• What is a recent success you're particularly proud of?
Introducing my University. I found my passion in what I do on a daily basis with this course. I am able to challenge growing professionals into thinking so much more than what they’ve been taught to understand on a surface level. I am pulling back layers to help people find themselves to help them become better personal brands and self aware humans.
• What is most important in your work?
Challenging my clients to becoming their brands. We can pitch you to every outlet and get as many placements as needed but I feel that knowing yourself as a human, as a professional and a brand are key. This is obtained through PR coaching as well as brand coaching.
• How would you say the media landscape in your field has changed since you started in PR?
Social Media has transformed so much since I started in PR.I view it as a gift and curse in a way, because there are so many outlets to obtain placements through national blogs as well as independent blogs; but then there is the challenge of clients being in the spotlight and making one error that could affect their brand or it could benefit their brand is a very fine line at this point. We are on our phone 90 % of our daily routine and this is how we keep up with everyone and everything. This is when understanding yourself as a human and brand come into play. One mistake, one tweet can end you to lose endorsements. One funny video can land you placements and endorsements. It’s a up or down in this day and age.
• Where are your favorite places for business meetings or drinks with writers/clients?
I’m operating from Detroit, MI and we’re in the rise of so much new development and the introduction of new places to try so I love meeting and working in the spaces where I can experience for the first time and give my review; somewhat. I also love working and meeting clients at FEMOLOGY Detroit. This is a female focused business lounge and the first of its kind in Detroit, MI. It serves as somewhat the HUB for female professionals of all levels in Detroit.
• PR/Communications can be fast-paced and stressful, what is your favorite way of relaxing?
I love shutting my work day down around 7pm/8pm; pending if I am done with all my work for the day in terms of deadlines. I get manicures and pedicures every 2 weeks and shut my phone on Do not Disturb. I also use my Sundays for brunch, sleep and just relaxing to the max. Self care in terms of understanding when I’m tired, i’m tired and if I need to sleep to take the time out to sleep is important to me. I believe that you can’t achieve 100% working at 50% rest your body and mind.
• What are you reading these days?
I’m reading “Leader By Mistake” by Jacqueline Baker and “How To Be A Badass At Making Money” by Jen Sincero.
• What are you listening to on repeat these days?

• What is the next event you're the most looking forward to in the next months?
I am looking forward to handling a upcoming a campaign with a client who will be a part of a 16 Day Campaign traveling to Russia representing the USA speaking about female entrepreneurship and violence against women in multiple forms.
